Senior Performance Engineer

POSITION DUTIES: Establish benchmarks through adoption and development, conduct analysis with state of the art tools and methodologies, and work closely with members of other teams to effect change. Test databases for performance on flash storage devices and tune the database configuration to optimize performance. Build automation tools to perform benchmarking and test of the graphite drivers and applications using databases. Design and develop management tools for monitoring, configuring and diagnosis of Graphite Systems appliance. Build monitoring, testing and software performance tools. Define, write and execute test plans containing test scripts, use cases, and various configuration scenarios to ensure optimal performance in accordance with defined technical specifications. Develop, maintain and enhance software applications using object-oriented software development methodologies. Analyze software requirements to ensure reliability, scalability and automation of software functions. Develop unit tests and perform software usability tests to ensure correctness and performance and identify software defects. Analyze formal test results and record step-by-step instructions for reproducing defects, configuration problems, input/output data results, and interoperability issues. Work with development team members to define changes that would result in better performance or better test cases. Evaluate new hardware including setting it up, installing new revisions of firmware and software and running all of the tests described above. Develop automation functionality to automatically run the above tests automatically upon release of new hardware or software. Participate in software and hardware designs providing input on how those decisions will impact performance benchmarks and applications.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related occupation.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience must include: working for a flash storage device company, application and database testing, tuning and optimizing database performance for flash storage devices, Linux, MySQL, Oracle, SQL, TPC, x86, Performance Analysis & Tools, C & Java, Hardware/Software Interaction and Agile development processes, VMware hardware certification process, VMware administration, AWS administration, setting up and configuring large multi-CPU Intel servers and storage including updating firmware and software, monitoring and diagnostic tools development for VMware and Databases.
