The Engineering Technician I will perform standardized or prescribed assignments under varying levels of close supervision.
Work direction will come from a Test Engineer or Branch Manager with varying sources of task support requests coming from the entire Test Engineering staff.
Ability to work in a technical research and production environment.
Position will include both office and field work assigned tasks as well as administrative support.
Assigned tasks may include data review; experimental design and setup; model construction; test apparatus/instrumentation setup, calibration, and operation; data collection; test photographic documentation; post-test analysis; report development; development and execution of various computer programs used to analyze, support, and/or simulate the results of experimental test programs.
Ability to work with aerospace testing and research tools and devices.
Basic knowledge of aerospace testing concepts a plus, as is working knowledge of CAD and Solid Works.
Team player, good communication skills both oral and written, organize time and assignments to properly prioritize effort for maximum effectiveness, and can handle guidance and directions from multiple sources.

The base salary range for this position is $39,374.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of PositionWorks while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended time periods.

Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
Ability to use and wear hearing, head, feet, and eye protection.
Description of Work EnvironmentWork with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented.
Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.
Field work may bring individual into close proximity extreme high or low temperatures, high noise levels, high-speed rotating machinery, working in confined spaces, working at heights, and systems containing high potential energy.
Equipment and Machines Involved in Work TasksAbility to operate personal computer systems, telephones, and other general office equipment.
Ability to operate inspection, electrical and mechanical, and complex instrumentation equipment.
Criticality of AttendanceStandard work week of 40 hours, 8 hours per day, M - F, nominally 6:

Other Essential FunctionsMust have the ability to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility.
Must use safe work practices and work safely and without injury or incident.
Must be able to accurately communicate ideas verbally and in writing in a Team Environment.
Here's what you'll need:
Working toward a degree in Aerospace engineering or equivalent, with one - two years of related experience.
Basic knowledge of engineering systems including aerospace test techniques, off body flow measurements, and engineering design.
Must be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, be able to maintain an organized workspace, and have strong interest in obtaining hands-on experience in aeronautical testing environment.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from Manager and Test Engineers and use own judgment/decisions to allow continuity of workflow.
Must be self-motivated and a Team Player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
There are specific minimum physical, work environment, and equipment requirements.
